Apollo hires Goldman infra principal financier

Apollo Global Management has hired David Cohen, a director covering infrastructure principal investments at Goldman Sachs in New York. 

Cohen has joined the US fund manager’s dedicated equity infrastructure unit in New York, co-led by Geoff Strong and Dylan Foo, that is targeting investments across the renewable energy, power, communications and transportation sectors. 

Cohen spent 12 years at Goldman, joining its merchant banking division in 2011, where he focused on investments in the energy, transport and communications sectors in North America and Peru 

Among other deals, he led its investments in Mexican toll road company Red de Carreteras de Occidente and Restaurant Technologies Inc,  a US restaurant and catering cooking oil services company. 

Apollo raised first dedicated infrastructure fund valued at roughly USD 1 billion in 2018, which has made 14 investments. This included a portfolio of renewalbe, thermal power and midstream assets purchased from GE Energy’s Financial Services.
