Aus & NZ: Future Fund infrastructure head promoted

The head of infrastructure at Australia’s sovereign wealth fund has been promoted to Deputy Chief Investment Officer, Private Markets, it was announced today.

Wendy Norris will be in charge of private equity and property at the Future Fund, as well as her present “Infrastructure & Timberland” responsibilities. Head of Property Barry Brakey and Head of Private Equity, Steve Byrom will report to her.

Future Fund chief executive, David Neal, said in a statement the changes would “help us to be more nimble and streamlined in the hunt for investment opportunities, the management of the investment portfolio and the creation and use of technology and risk insights”.

Chief Investment Officer, Raphael Arndt, will also take on the job of Chief Investment Strategist, replacing Stephen Gilmore who will leave the Fund at the end of April.

David George, the Fund’s Head of Debt and Alternatives, will also now be Deputy Chief Investment Officer, Public Markets overseeing listed equity investments and “Overlays and Debt & Alternatives”,  

Björn Kvanskog, Head of Listed Equity, Tanya Branwhite, Head of Market Insights and Portfolio Implications and Hugh Murray, Head of Overlays, will report to George.

Other changes include creating a Chief Technology Officer position, for which a global search is about to start. They will head up the IT department but also work with the investment team to come up with “bespoke investment technology solutions to drive investment insights”.
