Australia foreign deals law allows scrapping of project contracts

Australia project construction contracts could be cancelled under a new law introduced to federal parliament today if they can be connected to a state government deal with a foreign government that has been declared to be against Australia’s national interest.

The Australia’s Foreign Relations (State and Territory Arrangements) Bill 2020 will allow the foreign affairs minister to terminate agreements between states, territories or universities with foreign governments.
