Chile launches USD 796m Talca – Chillán road tender

Chile launched the UF 19.2m (USD 796m) second tender for the Ruta 5 Talca – Chillán toll road, according to a press release from the Ministry of Public Works.

The contract has a fixed term of 25 years.

According to current tender documents, bids are due 31 January 2020 and economic offers will be opened 28 February. However, the government has already stated that it will adjust these dates to May and June 2020, respectively.

The project includes improvement to the existing 193km of road, as well as expansion from two to three lanes in the areas around the cities of Talca and Chillán and the construction of a 54km bypass to Talca.

This serves as the second tender for Talca – Chillán. Intervial Chile, which is fully owned by Colombian infrastructure firm Interconexión Eléctrica, holds the current concession contract, according to Inframation Deals. According to the Ministry of Public Works, the current contract is set to expire in May 2020.
