Colombia’s National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) recently presented plans to local community members for the 68.9 km (42.8-mile) Tunja–Moniquirá–Barbosa highway.

ANI representatives said the project contemplates the highway’s rehabilitation and the improvement of a 7km stretch of road that will connect this highway to the existing Briceño–Tunja–Sogamoso highway concession, which was acquired by Macquarie Capital in February.

The ANI did not provide details on the value of the contract.

The proposed project aims to strengthen the connection between the departments of Boyacá and Santander.

The Promesa de Sociedad Futura Concesionaria TMB S.A.S consortium presented the private initiative to the ANI on 22 May 2017, according to filings with the National Planning Department.

Prior to that, the ANI had rejected two previous pre-feasibility studies for the same stretch of highway, received in October 2012 and February 2013 respectively.
