CPPIB hires former Citigroup executive to expand US investments

Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) has appointed Zubaid Ahmad, a former Citigroup executive, as Senior Advisor, United States, to upgrade efforts in partnership and deal origination in the US, according to a press release on 29 October.

In this newly created role, Zubaid will focus on identifying and evaluating potential investment opportunities and partners across sectors and asset classes, as well as enhancing CPPIB’s position in the US.

The appointment is effective immediately. Zubaid will be based in New York City and work closely with Alain Carrier, Senior Managing Director & Head of International, CPPIB.

US market accounts for about CAD 126.5bn (USD 96.12bn), or 31.6% of CPPIB’s total investments.
