The Chilean Ministry of Public Works (MOP) said it received four bids in response to the tender of the Chacalluta Airport in the northern region of Arica, according to a 21 December release.
MOP opened the technical offers of Chilean construction and engineering firms Belfi and Icafal, in addition to concession operator A Port, a subsidiary of Flughafen Zürich AG, and a consortium comprising Agunsa and Sacyr.
Economic offers are slated to be opened on 16 January 2019.
The winner of the 20-year concession contract is expected to start construction in 2020 to conclude in 2023.
The project consists on the expansion of the airport for an estimated investment of UF 2m (USD 85m), to serve more than 1m passengers per year. The project includes the construction of five new gates, improving the existing terminal, and maintaining the facility for the life of the concession.
The airport is located 18Km north of the city of Arica, in the northern region of Arica in Chile.
