GIC infra exec to relocate to New York

Helen Newell, a senior vice president in the infrastructure group at GIC in London, is set to relocate to the Singapore sovereign wealth fund’s New York office in the coming months, according to sister publication SparkSpread.

The move is part of an expansion of GIC’s asset management business, according to an industry source.

GIC’s investments in the U.S. power sector have included a co-investment alongside ArcLight Capital Partners in Eastern Generation, a former Tenaska generation portfolio.

Newell joined GIC in London in October from Rio Tinto, where she most recently served as global head of risk.

Earlier this year, she was named as a non-executive director of GIC-backed Associated British Ports, the largest port operator in the U.K.
