Prateek Maheshwari, a principal responsible for debt financings at Global Infrastructure Partners in London, has left the manager and has joined OMERS Infrastructure, sources told sister title SparkSpread.
Maheshwari, who could not be reached for comment, spent 11 years at GIP, the world’s largest infrastructure fund manager with some $51 billion in assets under management. Maheshwari was responsible for loan and capital market debt financings backing GIP acquisitions.
He recently worked on its landmark GBP 3.5bn financing of its acquisition of a 50% stake in Orsted’s 1.2GW Hornsea 1 project off the coast of England, the largest offshore wind project in the world.
At OMERS, he is expected to work for its equity investment business. OMERS does not have an infrastructure debt fund.
Previously, he was a power & utilities debt banker at Dresdner Kleinwort and also worked for ICICI Bank and Barclays Capital.
Officials at OMERS did not immediately respond to enquiries.
