IFM Investors has named David Neal as its new chief executive, the global fund manager announced today.

Neal will depart his current role as head of The Future Fund, Australia’s sovereign wealth manager, at the end of February and will replace outgoing IFM Chief Executive Brett Himbury when he retires in December this year

A 13-year veteran of the Future Fund, Neal (pictured) started out as chief investment officer in 2007 before being appointed chief executive in 2014.

He has resigned from the Future Fund but his commencement date with IFM has not yet been confirmed.

“David has done a terrific job first as Chief Investment Officer and then as Chief Executive Officer. He has been instrumental in designing and implementing an investment strategy that has grown the Future Fund to its current value and in building a robust and effective organisation,” Future Fund Chairman Peter Costello said in a statement.

Prior to joining the Future Fund, Neal worked for Willis Towers Watson, an investment consultant, for 15 years in both the UK and Australia.
