Infrastructure investors in Australia now favour US and core-plus

Almost 80% of infrastructure funds investing in Australia see the US as the best destination for their money, compared with 49% who say the same for Australia, according to an annual survey.

Infrastructure Partnership Australia’s latest Australian Infrastructure Investor Report released today found that 90% of investors see Australia as a place they are highly likely to target – the same proportion as last year’s survey – but most said there are just not enough opportunities for the large amounts of cash piling up in funds.

As a result, the survey also found 64% now prefer higher risk, “core-plus” investments. This now ranks as highly as traditional infrastructure assets like transport and water.
