Infrastructure Ontario & Metrolinx shortlist Ontario tunnel P3 teams

Infrastructure Ontario & Metrolinx have shortlisted three teams for the Highway 401 railway tunnel project.

The DBF project’s cost is estimated at CAD 200-499m (USD 160.3 – 400m), according to IO’s November 2016 pipeline report. The project is expected to reach financial close in late fall 2017, according to the announcement.

The team was on 16 February shortlisted alongside two other teams, as previously reported.

Project details
The project scope include the construction of a second tunnel under Highway 401/409 to accommodate two tracks, future signaling, communications infrastructure, and replacing footings of retaining walls that support the ramp from eastbound Highway 409 to eastbound Highway 401.

The procuring authorities launched the procurement in September 2016. The project, which is part of Metrolinx’s work in support of GO Regional Express Rail, was initially announced as part of IO’s Spring 2014 pipeline.
