Seventeen developers are considering participating in the tender for the Northeast Highways Maintenance PPP in Mexico, according to documents published on 20 January.

Sacyr, Mota-Engil and Cointer are among the companies that have submitted questions regarding the tender.

The project includes the modernization, rehabilitation and operation of 349km (216.9 miles) of roads and bridges spread across six assets. These were among the 50 30-year DBFOM concessions awarded to Mexican state-backed investment fund Fonadin by the Secretariat of Transport and Communications (SCT) in September 2011.

Fonadin, the project’s grantor, has set a limit on expenses of MXN 8.77bn (USD 449.47m) over the contract’s 10-year duration. The government will pay the developer availability payments throughout the term.
