The new disruptors of infrastructure

Established infrastructure funds such as Ardian and InfraVia, and some venture funds from the US, are targeting a new generation of tech start-ups set to disrupt infrastructure. But the high risk-return profile means they are doing it in very different ways, report Colin Leopold and Pablo Martinez  

Towards the start of September, Ardian acquired Wintics – a company working in the transport sector – out of its fifth fund. Wintics is not a physical transport asset but a French AI firm which relies on algorithms based on data from fixed cameras to manage traffic.
