Taiwan prepares next offshore wind tender

Taiwan is planning to launch a 1 GW-5 GW offshore wind tender in December, according to sources.

The authorities previously planned to reveal the 2026-2035 third phase of its offshore wind development plan in late March, but the COVID-19 outbreak has delayed the process, a Bureau of Energy spokesperson told SparkSpread.  The offshore wind development plan, which will detail the new bidding process, would typically pre-date the tender launch by a few months.

“So far we are not aware of any firm schedule over when the plan will be released,” he said, adding that the government is still studying various approaches to capacity allocation.
