US buyout firm TPG has added a second principal to its London-based infrastructure investment team, according to sister title SparkSpread.

Mariana Popa, an infrastructure portfolio manager at Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), joined TPG late last month.

She reports to Edward Beckley, a partner who leads TPG’s infrastructure business. The new division works across the various TPG funds to source infrastructure investments globally.

A spokesman declined to comment.

The addition of Popa follows TPG’s recent hire of Steven Mandel, formerly a director focused on emerging markets power investments at Denham Capital.

He also joined as a principal covering infrastructure investments at the San Francisco-headquartered private equity giant, SparkSpread reported on 9 April.

Beckley, a former head of Europe for Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA), joined TGP in 2017 to set up an infrastructure investment business. Popa worked with Beckley at MIRA, before joining ADIA in 2012.
