Transurban flags positive signs as traffic declines moderate

Motorway traffic on the roads Transurban owns have stopped declining rapidly, allowing the company to prepare for opportunities as governments re-open economies, CEO Scott Charlton said today.

The ASX-listed toll road operator provided a detailed analysis of traffic on its roads in its scheduled annual investor day update, and is keeping a watching brief on China, where it has no assets but which is further ahead than most countries on easing travel restrictions.

“There are positive signs the government restrictions are starting to lift here in Australia and also in Quebec,” Charlton told analysts during an online briefing. “The Greater Washington [area] is a bit more challenging.”
