UBS Asset Management names three infra hires

UBS Asset Management’s real estate and private markets (REPM) business has hired three infrastructure experts to join its USD 4bn platform.

Thibault Contat Desfontaines moves from Nomura, where he was a vice president on the EMEA M&A UBS Asset Management team, advising infrastructure funds and providing strategic advisory services. 

Borja de Luis de Blas joins from Globalvia, where he spent five years as an investment director. There, he originated, evaluated and executed acquisitions of infrastructure opportunities across OECD countries and disposed of non-core assets. 

Desfontaines and de Blas, who will respectively be based in London and Madrid, have joined as directors on the European infrastructure equity team, reporting to Bronte Somes. They will originate, analyse and execute investment opportunities across Europe and manage portfolio assets.  

Declan O’Brien meanwhile becomes senior analyst, reporting to Bill Hughes, head of research and strategy. A chartered accountant with 12 years of industry experience, he joins from Legal & General Investment Management, where he spent two years as an infrastructure strategist. 

The global infrastructure platform, which comprises direct equity and debt investments, is led by Tommaso Albanese alongside 30 staff across five global offices.
